Plunging in water

Bible camp was about Baptism (next month is also Baptism) and these are some quotations and information I recieved this time. I find this course so interesting. Again I would like to state that I am just writing a summary or debriefing for my own benefit and am not trying to preach to you.

To be baptized is to have the Spirit make order out of Choas (forgiveness of sin), to cross over to the Promised Land (the Church), to have leprosy of evil washed away, to be sprinkled anew, cleansed of all impurities, to become truly alive.

Baptism is not the begining of our being sons and daughters of God but a confermation, a celebration, a deepening of our already present ontological divine sonship and daughtership.

Baptism is the ritual that seals and ratifies our commentment to live according to this Christian (filial) identity.

To be baptized is to undergo Penticost.
The Pentecostal Spirit is given to us through Baptism.

To go through the Red sea (Exodus) was symbolic of dying and rising to life, of leaving behind the life of oppression and slavery and rising up on the other side to a life of dignity, liberation and membership in the People of God on the way to the Promised Land.

The joy of Freedom and liberation are expressed in song and dance. This response to their baptism, truly is a profession of faith.
Liberation (being saved) also involves belief (faith) and trust, being willing to bank ones life on God.

Viaticum: is the christian manna for the eschatological journey to the homeland of the trinity.
One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God
This is especially true if we realize that the Word, the Good News is that God loves us without conditions. This satisfies every hunger we have.

God intends a creation, a humankind with and in whom the triune God in community dwells. This results not in individualistic faith and spirituality but in authentic communities with a social consciousness, a reflection of the Trinity.

When the People of the Exodus entered into covenant with Yahweh they were experiencing an encounter with the trinity.

The New Covenant would be revealed and realized in Jesus based on unconditional love. Jesus is the one who recieved the spirit promised in Ezekiel, and he shares it with all of us.

Baptism is a Sacrament of the Covenant, the profession of faith expressed in the Creed and in the Lords Prayer.

The Christian community was a result of God sending the son and Spirit to impact humanity, to make the encounter visible in the Covenant bond of intimacy.

The Trinity meant this community to become its sacrament, its visible presence in the world, a reflection of the Trinitarian community.

Baptism is the covenantal relationship of unconditional love with the Trinity. The Trinity transforms the individuals into a community of Christians who are called to live the same relationship of unconditional love.

All very interesting.....
